June 4-9, 2025
The ASSITEJ Small Countries Network is set to hold its 3rd Professional Meeting in Luxembourg from June 5-9, 2025, organized by Assitej Luxembourg. This event will feature the SparksLab program, an immersive professional workshop scheduled for June 5-8, within the creative environment of the Rotondes studios. In collaboration with the Marionettefestival, celebrating its tenth edition, this workshop will highlight the arts of puppetry and object theatre, showcasing the talents of participants from various cultural backgrounds.
The primary goal of the SparksLab program is to bring together emerging artists, providing them with exposure to innovative artistic forms while particularly emphasizing creative work for young audiences. This workshop will delve deep into the artistry of Ariel Doron, a renowned puppeteer, director, and performer, focusing on the unique presence of "ready-made" objects within performance art.
This third professional meeting is hosted by Assitej Luxembourg, representing a significant collaboration among small countries. The initiative seeks to foster a profound and regular exchange concerning the practices and challenges faced by the nations of the small Countries. By sharing strategies tailored to their unique contexts, member countries aim to enhance their artistic endeavors.
The meeting will not only facilitate exchanging experiences and practices but also support and encourage the training of artists dedicated to creating works for young audiences. The partnership aims to promote the development and recognition of theatrical creations directed toward children and youth, thereby contributing to innovation in the performing arts.
Since the initiation of these professional meetings in 2023 in Liechtenstein, followed by a second edition in Cyprus during the Mitsikouri Festival, this third edition demonstrates the commitment to strengthening professional relationships and fostering collaboration among emerging artists and theatre professionals across borders.
Key objectives include:
National Promotion of Performing Arts: Enhancing the visibility of stage arts aimed at young audiences.
Skill Development: Supporting artists interested in creating performances for children and youth.
Networking Opportunities: Facilitating connections between performing arts professionals and their foreign counterparts for future collaborations.
Evaluation of Initiatives: Allowing country representatives to exchange insights and strategies to bolster the ASSITEJ network and address their unique challenges.
